SweetThang

Hi Everyone!  I have been away for a while.  I have been excercising though.  And just to let you know, in the morning, in my birthday suit, I weigh about 200lbs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am happy about that. Looking back, its not a lot, but to me I am maintaining.

But yall I have learned that I have an evil twin.  Her name is SweetThang.  She likes to eat sweets.  Anything sweet.  Cookies, candy, lately its been powdered donuts.  A whole bag.  She will eat sweets and not eat food.  She will eat sweets until her head is hurting and eyes are twitching.  Yes my eyes have been twitching and I think it is because of the sweets.  Or it could be from starring at a computer too much.  At any rate it is still  Ridiculous yall.

The good thing is that I have picked back up on my activities.  I am hoping to join the Y next year and get a personal trainer.  I need to loose 30-45 lbs before the summer.  And keep it off.  I am open to suggestions.  Holla at me.

Here is some footage from race day, which was on October 23rd.  Sorry for the side ways view.  I can't figure out how to turn it, so when using my phone I have to be more careful.

RACE DAY IS APPROACHING!

Race Day is approaching!  Ask me how many I have gotten up to....... Go ahead ask...............

B2F, how many miles have you gotten up to?

7.  A measily 7 miles.  I am at some kind of stand still.  Getting up at 3am in the morning just doesn't work for me.  Jogging in the evening doesn't work.  Staying away from the chocolate and sweets has been unsuccessful.

Oh my Lord, oh my Lord what shall I do?????!!!!

I will tell you what I am going to do.  I am going to do my best.  I still have 17 or 18 days to increase my mileage.  If all else fails, on run day I will just do my best.  This is my first 1/2 marathon and I am excited with just trying to attempt.

IT WONT BE MY LAST!  ITS ALL ABOUT 1/2 MARATHON RUNNING AND TRAINING FOR LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry about the mouth popping!  LMBO!

pics!

So here is my picture after I ran on Wednesday morning 3 miles.  I told yall I would start to post, just a matter of me remembering.  The past two weeks I may have ran twice each week.  I have fallen off, but I think I will try something different.  I will see.  Here is the pic:
LOL!  I look like mama huh! LOLAM!  Anyway, my weight for this day was 203ish, that was with my clothes and shoes on at work.

Trying real hard!

I have not posted a pic, I just keep forgetting.  I may have ran twice last week.  I have run 1 time, 4.5 miles on Tuesday.  I have to change this.  My dilemmas are what time of the day to run, well my dilemma.  The kids have started school and by the time I get home it is too late because it also gets dark earlier now.  If I go in the morning, I would have to get up at 4am, when it is dark.  Not my type of hype.  I may need to get some courage though.  I do not want to be caught totally unprepared for this run. So I am calling myself doing week 7 over, but so far I have only jogged 1 day.  I have lost weight though!  Yeah!

I believe when I started I was at about 215 or 220.  I am down to 204 now!  I do not want to see that scale creep back up.  The other day when I ran the 4.5 I had only eaten fruit all day.  I felt good.  When I ran it was a little faster and everything.  The closer I get to race time, the more I will need to put healthier eating habits into practice.  Maybe only eating fruit a few days out of the week.

5 miles!

I did complete my five miles on Sunday!  It was good!  I decided how I will post my pics.  I just need a good camera or I will do a video of how I look everytime I run.  Starting next run.  Since July 24th, the day of my 5 miler.  I did 2 miles on Tuesday, July 26th and 4 miles on Thursday, July 28. Last week was a challenging in my personal life.  I didn't make it out the rest of the week.  In the training plan this week I am slated to run a 5k.  I never signed up for one so I will just do this week like a regular week.  I jogged 3 miles last night.  It was supposed to be 4.  I could have made that last mile but it is starting to get dark earlier and it was just too late.  Hopefully I will get some cross training in tonight and do 4 tomorrow night.

When I used to run in college, my digestive activites increased and got better.  Now I find my stomach hurting and I am gassed up.  My eating habits haven't changed much.

I guess I thought, like many others that I could run and eat as much and whatever I want.  Truth be told, I really don't eat that much.  Maybe 1-2 meals a day, sometimes a snack.  I know what the culprit is.

SUGAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In college I was jogging and working out a lot more.  Waaaayyyyy more than I do now.

So should I up my exercise or just eat less and healthier?  We will see.

4 miles!

I did it!  I did another 4 miles last night!  I would like to get some running in today, but I don't know if I will.  I could use a good stretch.  I got a blister on my foot last night.  There was something in my shoe that was rubbing against it while I was running.  I didn't stop and when I did there it was, a blister.  How do you get rid of blisters?

I need to plan ahead

Once again I may have to put off some plans to get my run in today.  I may need to keep running clothes and tennis in a bag so that I can be ready at the drop of a dime if plans change.  Oh, I just cut my hair off, so I don't have to worry about that anymore.  I did not do my 2m or cross train yesterday, not even at home.  So today I need to get 3.5 or 4 miles in. I also need to invest in some workout gear.

Week 4 Days 1-2-3

Day 1 -I did a little strength Monday by using my 10 pd weight and just lifting with both hands in different directions, working different sets of muscles.  I did a few curls, a few tricep moves, and a few presses.

Day 2 - Last night I ran 3.5 miles.  I could have belted out 4 but my husband and sons were waiting for me.  There were a few people up at the track.  I was surprised.  Being that it was dark and all.  I guess no one wanted to take on the sun.  Not even a little.

Day 3 - Today I am supposed to do 2miles or cross training.  I don't know what I will do.  I have an art class I wanted to attend tonight.  By the time I do that, and pick up my kids, it may be too late to go to the track.  I could just do an exercise tape at home.  I have insanity, and a couple others.  I need to get a really good stretch DVD.  I used to do yoga and because of spiritual ramifications I stopped, but it is good stuff.  I need to pray about it. I didn't pray about it before.

The course for the race has been revealed, and they even did a video.  It will be here before no time.  I am below the 210 mark.  That's good!  I have been experiencing some stomach issues.  That's bad.  I think it is the sugar.  I need to leave it alone.  I am addicted.

At it again

Ok, ok, so I didn't stick to the plan, but I did do something.  The main thing is to keep it moving.  I did not do the 4 miles Saturday, or the 5 miles Sunday.  As a matter of fact I did't do anything Sunday because I was trying to take my hair down.  On Saturday I did 2 miles and then the kids and I took to the hill.  I went up five times frontward, and 5 times backwards.  Backwards is no joke and really works your quads!  Even though I did not do the four Saturday, I don't feel guilty because I got a good work out in.  I can say that I see a slight difference in my size.  My grandmother is surely commenting.  Once I break past the 210 standstill, I know it will start falling off!

Time Constraints

Hi Everybody, I am really excited this morning.  I havent followed the 1/2 marathon training to a tee.  If you look at the schedule for week 3 I have switched it around a little.  The key thing is that I have done something though.  This is so weird because I am amending this post at a later date.  The content of the original post either got erased or never made it.

So once again I am saying that I did cross training Thursday instead of running because of time constraints.  I ran up a hill 15 times, 3 of which I did this crawl where you start in a standing position and drop to your hands and go.  It was very invigorating.  Friday morning I thought I was going to have time constraints, but I did the 4 miles in 55 minutes instead of 60!  a whole 5 minutes was shaved somehow.  Awesome!  Now I have Saturday, and on Sunday the 5 miler!  Whoa Nelly!

4 miles!

Okay, since last post, I was supposed to do the 4 miles that Sunday.  I didnt do it.  I didin't do the 4 miles the next Sunday either.  As a matter of fact, the next week I may have gone out 3 times, but only 3 miles each time.  I did go skating again that Friday though!  That will be on of my cross training efforts for sure!

I did 2.5 miles Monday and  4 miles yesterday!  I am excited about that.  Since I didn't get out there last week like I wantd to, I am going to make it up by running 4 miles Thursday, Friday and Saturday.   I will post each day to let you know whether or not I completed my task.  I will have to shift back to my  morning schedule to complete this task.

Sunday I am scheduled to run 5 miles!

My personal goal is to run 1 mile in 15 minutes.  That would mean I would finish a 1/2 marathon run in approximately 3 1/2 hours!  Phew!  Thats a lot of running!  May not seem like it to you experts out there, but its pretty lengthy for me right now.  I'm sure that as I get closer, it will get a little better.  Soon I will have to train myself on terrain.

Getting to the finish line!

Hi everyone!  I was a little disappointed in myself at first so I didn't post, but now I have found my motivation and have stopped criticizing myself.  In the diet world they say if you slip up one day, don't beat yourself up!  There is always tomorrow.  So since my last post, last week I finished the 9th week of the couch to 5K training and got in 3, 3 mile runs!   Yeah me!   A lot has happened since then, but I am pushing on.  So this week I started the Hal Higdon 1/2 marathon training schedule.  Here is the link:  http://www.halhigdon.com/halfmarathon/novice.htm.  I did not do the strength and stretch Monday.  I ran the 3 miles Tuesday, nothing Wednesday, and Thursday I did the 3 miles but no strength.  Tonight I will combine my cross training from Wednesday and for Saturday into one 3 hour or so skating session!  Yes I like to skate!  I bought some skates about 2 months ago and enjoying it!

So maybe Saturday I will do some strengthening at home.  I have a 10lb weight, I had 2 but one is missing, which plagues me till this day, and I have a machine I have yet to put up.  May have to call dear old Dad to help me.  I love him so much!  I have been doing research on excercises I can do, and of course know some myself.  I will probably do some squats, lunges, push-ups, ball exercises, crunches, and bicep curls.  I really want my arms and back toned.  My chest too!  That's Saturday.  Sunday I will push out the four miles!

I officially signed up for my marathon last night!  I have a goal, and that is exciting and challenging at the same time for me!  I have 17 weeks to prepare.  The 1/2 marathon training will take me 12 weeks to complete with 5 weeks to start over and perfect some things.  I did this on purpose so that I would have those extra weeks to work on speed and form or to do some weeks over, which I have done with the 5K training.  That is okay though.  I am excited yall, and will keep you posted on my progress, that picture is coming.  Just trying to decide what is appropriate for me to show.

Till next time!

Nothing Said, Nothing Done

Last week we did nothing.  The week before that we did 1 1/2 days.  The deadline is coming up for registering for the marathon.  I feel like if we haven't made any progress in our due diligence, we won't be running.  Or jogging for that matter.  But it is so much more important than making it to the fininish line.  I want to get in shape and feel good about myself.  I always look back at my old pics and say, dang I looked good then, why was I not happy with myself?  Well I am happy with myself mentally now, I just need to be happier physically.  As we get older, it gets harder, and you just look back and say I let too much time slip away.

I can say that last week we went on vacation so we have something of an excuse, but going forward there is none.  I'm done talking.

Wednesday, June 1, 2011

Well, I went back to 2.  My husband didn't even jog with me.  My kids and I went to the track and did the 2.5 miles by myself.  I am happy I did that, but would be even more pleased had I completed that last day.  With the holiday this weekend, I didn't make it.  We were running in the morning before but it looks like our training will shift to the evening.  Kind of backwards since it will be hotter.  But a shift is okay, some times you have to go with the change and not against it.  This week, week 8, we will run 3 days this week at 2.75 miles or 28 minutes.  I do the mileage.  When we begin the first week of 1/2 marathon, hopefully we will be including strength training into our regimen.  I can't wait until it feels natural to run/jog 3 miles, then 5 miles, then 8 miles!

3 Days! 3 Days! 3 Days

For some reason, we could not get past the 2 day mark in our training.  These next few weeks of training is vital because it is distance from here on out.  This past week, we did 3 days!  I am happy we broke the rut!  Now we haven't even started this week yet.  But we will have to run 3 days in a row to make it.  Will it happen?  That 2.5 miles or 25 minutes, we did 25 minutes, was not easy.  I wanted to stop after 5 minutes, but I kept going.  My husband said I was going slow, but I no it is my weight and not enough training bringing me down.  I will post a body shot soon to show how I look starting and the changes throughout.  Stay posted!

Hey you can follow me and stay posted on my progress.  Also don't be afraid to leave a comment!  Have a safe and happy holiday!

Beyond the Rut!

Well, as with any new regimen, there has to be some stick-to-it-ness! chuckle  We have managed to stick to 2 days a week, but the regimen requires 3 days.  We are in week 6 of the couch to 5k training and it is about to get real, real quick.  I hope to break the rut and get that 3rd day in this week!

Just getting Started

Okay so, my husband and I will run or jog(LOL!) a 1/2 marathon in October of this year!  We are in training right now.  So far I have setup a schedule for us to train for a 5k first, using the couch to 5K training plan, and then we will begin training for the 1/2 marathon.  We are in the 6th week of the 5K training.
